Unpack that sentence and you get three layers of engineering. First, tempered — safety glass certified to ANSI Z97.1 and 16 CFR 1201 that crumbles into pebbles rather than shards. Second, laminated — two panes bonded to a clear interlayer, the same construction as a car windshield, so in the rare event of breakage the fragments stay adhered instead of dropping. Is ProtecGlass a coating I have to reapply?
No. ProtecGlass ships on the door from the factory — unlike DIY sprays, which last weeks and must be reapplied indefinitely. Routine care is just a rinse and an occasional pass with a non-abrasive cleaner.
What is the difference between laminated and regular tempered glass?
Both are safety glass. Tempered glass crumbles into small pebbles if broken. Laminated tempered glass adds a bonded interlayer between panes — like a windshield — so fragments adhere to the interlayer instead of dropping. ProtecGlass is built on laminated tempered glass.
