A historic Savannah landmark, reborn as a clubhouse for all
Recess Hotel & Club brings new life to Savannah's storied Manger Building at 7 E. Congress Street, in the heart of the city's Historic District. Developed by LEFT LANE — the vertically integrated development, brand and design firm behind the acclaimed Hotel Bardo Savannah — Recess restores the landmark to hotel use as a 221-key lifestyle property, with guest rooms, suites, playful bunk rooms, and a floor-by-floor set of social "Rumpus Rooms."
The concept reads less like a traditional hotel and more like a private clubhouse open to members, locals and travelers alike, layering in co-working spaces, a rooftop pool and bar, a circuit-based spa and fitness club, a two-story event space, and a roster of food-and-beverage venues that includes a classic French brasserie. The design language, developed with collaborators, leans into a "retro-futurist" sensibility — natural materials meeting graphic tile, bold color, and clean modern hardware.
That is exactly the kind of brief where bathroom fixtures stop being an afterthought and become part of the storytelling. For Recess, LEFT LANE turned to VIGO.
The Scope
What VIGO supplied
VIGO outfitted the guest bathrooms with a coordinated package of fixtures and fittings — faucets, shower doors, shower towers and accessories — chosen to survive heavy hospitality use while keeping the look sharp and intentional. The full scope spanned four product categories:
- 01 Bathroom Faucets Sleek, single-hole faucets in a matte-black finish that read crisp against the mint terrazzo vanities — a deliberate, graphic contrast that anchors each vanity composition and stands up to constant daily use.
- 02 Frameless Pivot Shower Doors Clear, frameless pivot glass doors that keep the wet zone open and bright, let the grid-tile walls do the talking, and deliver the clean, minimal hardware language hospitality designers favor for a luxe, spa-like entry.
- 03 Custom Shower Towers Custom-configured shower towers pairing an oversized rain head with a handheld sprayer and integrated controls — a spec-grade centerpiece that delivers the rainfall experience guests expect while simplifying installation across hundreds of identical bathrooms.
- 04 Bathroom Accessories Coordinating accessories and finishing hardware that tie the whole room together in one consistent finish — the small, high-touch details that make a guest bathroom feel considered rather than catalog-built.

Hotel bathrooms have a brutal job description: they have to look like a magazine shoot and then absorb thousands of guests a year without losing their finish. That dual demand is where a spec-driven package earns its keep. The aesthetic payoff is visible in every frame. Matte-black fittings pop against the soft mint terrazzo and the graphic white grid tile; the frameless pivot doors keep sightlines clean and the rooms feeling larger; and the custom shower towers turn an everyday rinse into the kind of rainfall moment guests photograph and remember.
