Reeded, Gold & Unapologetically Miami
At NoMad Residences Wynwood — Related Group's art-district address designed by Arquitectonica — VIGO's Essex shower screens bring matte brushed gold and reeded glass to the bathroom, turning a daily ritual into something with a little Art Deco drama.
Texture as luxury. A VIGO Essex framed shower screen in matte brushed gold with reeded glass anchors the wet zone at NoMad Wynwood — gold-on-gold, glowing against warm wood and stone.
At a glance

Developed by Related Group and designed by Arquitectonica, the residences pair 3/8-inch textured glass with warm gold framing — an Art Deco look that hides water spots, adds privacy, and matches the project's brass-forward palette.
The Project
What is NoMad Residences Wynwood?
NoMad Residences Wynwood is a luxury residential project from Related Group in the heart of Miami's Wynwood arts district, with architecture by Arquitectonica. It translates the NoMad hospitality world into a residence — social, design-forward, and unmistakably Miami. In a neighborhood defined by color, pattern and craft, the bathrooms had to feel collected rather than corporate. That meant texture, warmth, and gold.

The Product
Which VIGO shower screens are in the residences?
The residences use the VIGO Essex framed shower collection in matte brushed gold with reeded and fluted glass. Essex is a framed series — a slim gold frame around textured 3/8-inch tempered glass — offered as both a hinged door and fixed shower screens so a bathroom can mix a door with a return panel. The vertical reeding does the heavy lifting: it reads as Deco craftsmanship while quietly delivering privacy and spot-hiding practicality.

VIGO Essex specified at NoMad Wynwood: matte brushed gold frame with 3/8" reeded and fluted tempered glass.

The Detail
What is reeded glass — and how is it different from fluted?
Reeded glass is textured glass with vertical, rounded ridges that project outward; fluted glass has vertical grooves carved inward. Both scatter light and blur the view for privacy while keeping the shower bright, and both read as vintage, hand-crafted texture — which is why designers reach for them in Deco-leaning and boutique-hotel interiors. VIGO's Essex offers both, so a project can dial in exactly how much shimmer and privacy it wants.

Why it works in a Miami bathroom
Texture is forgiving. In a humid climate where clear glass shows every water spot, reeded and fluted glass disguise day-to-day use, so the shower keeps looking styled between cleanings. Pair that with a matte brushed gold frame — warm, fingerprint-resistant, and color-matched to the project's brass — and the screen becomes a design feature instead of a barrier.
“Clear glass disappears. Reeded glass in gold announces itself — it makes the shower the most tactile thing in the room.” — The VIGO Design Team

Questions, answered
What VIGO products are used at NoMad Wynwood?
NoMad Wynwood uses VIGO Essex framed shower doors and fixed shower screens in matte brushed gold with reeded and fluted glass (the VG6093MGFL series, in 28-, 34-, 35- and 41-inch widths at 74 inches tall).
What is reeded glass on a shower door?
Reeded glass is textured glass with vertical, rounded ridges that distort the view for privacy while still passing light. On a shower door it adds Art Deco texture, hides water spots better than clear glass, and softens the look of the wet zone.
What is the difference between reeded and fluted glass?
Reeded glass has convex vertical ridges that project outward, while fluted glass has concave vertical grooves carved inward. Both create a striped, privacy-giving texture; VIGO's Essex shower screens are offered in both reeded and 3/8-inch fluted-and-clear glass.
Who designed NoMad Residences Wynwood?
